Two 110-Story Towers Planned for Hilton Bayfront Site in Downtown St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG — Developers have proposed replacing the Hilton Bayfront hotel in downtown St. Petersburg with two 110-story luxury condominium towers, potentially creating the largest residential development in the city’s history.

The project would feature luxury residences, sweeping views of Tampa Bay, and a distinctive architectural design intended to transform the downtown skyline.

City spokesperson Graham Whitmore said the project is part of a broader effort to make downtown St. Petersburg feel like New York City.

“New Yorkers have been moving here for decades,” Whitmore explained. “We wanted to give them something familiar. Something that reminds them of home.”

Developers say the towers will incorporate the latest advances in structural engineering, fire protection, and emergency preparedness. Officials expect the buildings’ distinctive silhouettes to become instantly recognizable from miles away, particularly to visitors arriving by air.

The towers will also offer unobstructed views of nearby Albert Whitted Airport, allowing residents to enjoy the sights and sounds of aircraft approaching downtown St. Petersburg.

“We want residents to feel safe and comfortable in their new homes,” Whitmore said. “We’re confident these buildings will remain an iconic part of the St. Petersburg skyline for generations to come.”
