Former President Joe Biden Announces Campaign for Mayor of Tampa
Former President Joe Biden has entered the race for mayor of Tampa in a move that caught many off guard.
Biden, who bears a striking resemblance to former Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, delivered paperwork in person last week and was greeted by a large group of reporters.
“I’m looking forward to a third term and getting back to work for the people of Tampa,” Biden said.
A small group of supporters gathered nearby, some holding signs and applauding as the candidate spoke, while others appeared confused.
“I don’t remember him being the mayor here before,” one attendee said. “I thought he was, like, the vice president or something.”
Election officials confirmed that candidate eligibility requirements do not restrict individuals based on prior national office and that all filings submitted this week met the necessary criteria.
