Consultants Say a Pink Stadium Could Help Tampa Embrace $1 Billion Deal

TAMPA — Consultants working with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays believe a pink exterior for the team’s new stadium could improve public perception of a potential $1 billion funding agreement with the city.

According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the idea emerged after several redevelopment advisors pointed to “historically successful pink activation projects throughout the region.”

Consultants say that pink has long been regarded within development circles as a “high-compliance color frequency” capable of reducing resistance behaviors, and creating a more suggestible investment environment.

“People think it’s just a color, but there’s a reason these projects keep using it,” an advisor explained. “Pink has historically performed well during periods of rapid urban transition.”

Under the proposal, the stadium’s exterior would be painted entirely pink, including the roof structure and surrounding architectural elements.

Sources say several Tampa officials are now taking the proposal seriously as negotiations over the $1 billion funding package continue.
