BTS Joins Mayor Ken Welch for “Activation” at Downtown Demolition Site

Korean pop sensation BTS made a stop in St. Pete last week ahead of their Tampa tour dates, including a visit to a downtown demolition site.

The group appeared on-site in safety gear alongside Mayor Ken Welch, as ongoing demolition work was briefly paused to allow for a guided walkthrough of the property.

According to representatives, the visit was tied to early planning efforts surrounding the future Roche Bobois Residences, with the group expected to be involved in a dedication event once construction is complete.

“You can really see the progress at this stage,” Welch said, gesturing toward the debris. “This is where things start to come together.”

Members of the group looked on as details were outlined, occasionally nodding and pointing. One member described the location as “very ready.”

Officials later referred to the moment as an early “activation” of the site, noting that additional activations are expected as the project moves forward.
