St. Pete Takes Over Power Grid After Proven Success Managing Water Bills

ST. PETERSBURG — Citing its proven success managing municipal water bills, the City of St. Petersburg announced Monday that it has taken over operation of the local power grid.

Officials said the decision followed years of outstanding performance in utility billing and customer satisfaction.

“Residents have consistently demonstrated their enthusiasm for city-managed utilities,” a spokesperson said. “Expanding into electricity was the obvious next step.”

Under the new system, electric customers can expect the same level of service, transparency, and billing excellence that have made St. Petersburg’s water utility the envy of municipalities throughout the region.

City leaders say they are already exploring additional opportunities to improve residents’ quality of life.
